What’s important to know is that none of the regular processes have been changed and the enhancements have mainly focused on increasing the usability of Rent Magic.

 

The first thing you’ll notice is the layout. Most of Rent Magic’s screens now fill the full screen and the newer wide-screen monitors will give you the best viewing and layout.

 

You will also immediately notice the change in the menu at the top of the screen. Almost all tasks and functions are clearly labeled with new icons to help you find them easily. Furthermore, these functions are grouped into new categories for more intuitive usage.  For example, all receivable options are under one tab. So you’ll find tenant charges and payments and sales invoices.  Any non-financial task dealing with Tenants will be grouped under Property Management along with building defaults and setup.

 

All the tasks for the last version of Rent Magic are here, so if you can’t find right away, you might need to look under a different menu.

 

 

 

The really big news of this redesign is the tabbing system. In the outgoing system when certain windows are open, like the Payments screen, the system prevents you from opening another window. To open reports, for example, while working on your payables, would require you to close those windows in order to open another.  Not anymore… Almost every screen in Rent Magic gets opened as a new tab. This allows you to keep many different open at once. In fact, you can even open the same screen in 2 different companies at the same time!

With this tabbing functionality comes the ability to split the screen between multiple tabs.  This can be handy if you need to have some side-by-side comparison.

 

Another important point to make is that some menu items have been consolidated, moved to the left of the screen or both. For example, Previous, Current and Future tenant access has moved under the Tenant Management icon and listed on the left. You will find this left-hand column used in many screens that have lists – like the tenant account history screen.

 

 

The final new function we’d like to highlight is with a new enhancement to the regular integrated legal forms creation. We will no longer be requiring users to use Adobe Reader for Form generation. We have now integrated the forms so that they generate within the program as a new tab. This will greatly cut down on desktop clutter by keeping this within the program.
