Welcome to a summer edition of the Rent Magic Newsletter. We hope you are having a great summer and as always, we try to provide you with the low down of what's new at Rent Magic. In this newsletter we are introducing more new features, some of which you may have already seen and some which need a little introduction to be found and used. Also, there is some important news regarding a new release of Rent Magic below. Be sure to read that and forward it to the appropriate people.

Post-Dated Cheque Function

For those who collect post-dated cheques, you will now be able to enter them in once by entering only one transaction. Entered as a standard Rent Paid transaction, all that needs to be done is record the amount of cheques received via the Recur function. Rent Magic takes care of the rest by automatically posting these payments when Rents are charged. All you need to do at that point is select them in the Deposit screen and process them as required.

While Rent Magic has always had an Apply Later function, this enhancement brings with it a dedicated filter to easily call up the Post Dates to the exclusion of other future transactions. Automatic sequential numbering will be added in the future and also to this feature we will be adding some detailed reports and other enhancements to help you manage your entries.

Small Button, Big Function

While we regularly add enhancements to various reports throughout the program, very few report updates require any real publicity. But with this new enhancement the addition is small enough to miss, but it delivers very big time savings. To the right of the Print Icon is a new icon that can be easily missed if you are not looking for it. It is a simple refresh button that will save you from having to recreate reports over and over. Say you ran your General Ledger and realized you wanted to add a new Journal Entry. Instead of having to re-select the report and fill in all the fields to regenerate it, just click the refresh button and the entire report refreshes to include the changes you just made. This feature is available now on every report and will surely save you from repetitive work time and again.

New! Inventory Control

Need help keeping track of the supplies you use in your daily building management? Do you need to quantify costs per supply-unit used in a retrofit? What you would have noticed already in a few accounting screens, is the first phase of Rent Magic's Inventory Control roll-out.

While there is still work to be done to enhance the functionality and usage, this feature is functional as is. It is currently integrated into the Purchase Order, AP Invoicing and Purchases modules for supply acquisition (see screenshot below). For the usage of supplies there is integration within the Sales Invoicing and Work Order modules.

Exciting Changes Are Coming

Rent Magic Online and On-Premise is getting a face-lift. While no hard date is currently set for this new version, we are currently laying the groundwork for the makeover now and this version will be introduced in a few months. While all the functionality will remain, the new changes will feature a new look that will enhance usability and be even easier on the eyes.

What you need to know
The new version of Rent Magic will not work on Microsoft Windows platforms earlier than XP SP3. Microsoft discontinued support to the Windows 2000 and XP service packs 1 and 2 years ago and we will not be able to provide versions of Rent Magic for those platforms any longer. Please let your IT departments know of this requirement and contact us if you need any further help.

Payroll for the 2nd half of 2012

The July 1, 2012 changes for Payroll Deductions Formulas have been added to all Enterprise versions of Rent Magic. For more detail of what was included in the update, please see the CRA website.
